Einmal ist keinmal...

Just finished Kundera's "The Unbearable Lightness of Being"...Actually, I managed to finish the book on Monday, but some words are still echoing in my mind.
Just in case should you find this little spot of mine where (almost) all masks fall off and a little piece of my true self gets to see a little bit of sunlight (which is the same as attention from those I’m happy to share this space with) I’m writing in English.
The unbearable lightness of being...just now, almost fifteen years after I’ve read it for the first time, I’m beginning to understand the title of what is said to be Kundera's master piece.
Just being can indeed be unbearable and overwhelming. Regardless of being in a life with or without joy or happiness.
That is why some prefer to trust their lives into the hands of some superior force, like God or destiny or karma.
Life is too beautiful - even when it's filled with sadness - for one to just sit by and watch it flow without even as much as take a dive in it's turbulent waters.
Kundera's motto is "Einmal ist keinmal" or, in a more literal and pragmatic translation, once doesn't count or once is never. The same is to say: you do one thing and you never have the chance to do it again. Because history doesn't repeat itself. The act may be the same, but the facts, the circumstances, the surroundings and even the assumptions that led to it are never the same. Kundera's conclusion is that, regardless of all, in the end, all decisions and choices are irrelevant, since, as they cannot be repeated, they will not have a significant meaning either to the one that is making the decision or to world where one lives.
I, on the contrary, and because interpretation is also a matter of convenience and depends on one's state of mind, choose to draw a different conclusion: in order to really feel it, once is never enough...so, let's see if we get to do it again...
